WHAT YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC SAYS ABOUT YOU

Are you into smooth Jazz or Soul? Do you have a thing for Death Metal or Punk. Work out to techno? Or do you relax to a Chopin Nocturne? According to a recent UK study from the Psychology Dept. of the University of Cambridge your answer can tell us a lot about you. . .
It's been calculated that we are apparently exposed to music for 20% of our waking lives. When you consider that we spend 33% of our lifetime asleep, you'll realise that it's a fair chunk of time that we spend hearing, or listening, to music. Whether we realise it or not, music is intrinsically hardwired to our brains and personalities and how we react to it reflects our personalities.
This particular study divided us all into two camps: Those who like rules and order and those who are guided by emotion.
People with more emotionally empathy (guided by emotion) to others prefer more sensual, mellow music with emotional depth. Emotional people tend to like music that brings on a rush of feelings, whether it is positive or negative.
On the other side of the coin, those with a more 'logical' and ordered outlook (those who like rules and order) actually soften preferred more manic and driven music, such as punk, techno, large orchestral classical music and experimental jazz with complex instrumentation.
We know what you're thinking? What if you fall into both camps and like a bit of each style? Well, according to one of the PhD students involved, you shouldn't worry, as this makes you an overall well-rounded and balanced person!
