IN-EAR VS OVER-EAR HEADPHONES

IN-EAR VS OVER-EAR HEADPHONES

In-ear and over-ear headphones are exactly what the name says they are. But there are a few differences with each model that you should be aware of when choosing which type of headphones to go for...

Noise Isolation
It’s safe to say that both models are both effective in isolating outside sound from your environment if they are secure and well fitted. It’s obvious that higher end products will have a more secure fit and will therefore be more effective in noise isolation. In-ear headphones plug your ear whereas over-ear headphones cover your ear - it depends on what you find more comfortable and the shape of your ears.

Portability
It’s pretty obvious that in-ear headphones are much more portable than over-ear headphones as they can be curled up and shoved in your pocket thanks to their tiny driver. Over-ear headphones sometimes come with cases or have the ability to fold up but ones that don’t will most likely be hanging around your neck wherever you go.

Sound
Regardless of the style of the headphones, both in-ear and over-ear headphones can have equally exceptional sound quality but it really depends on the design from the manufacturer. The higher end products will have much better sound quality than cheaper models.

Comfort
In-ear headphones are typically much more comfortable because they don’t make you/your ears sweat meaning you can wear them for longer periods of time. Over ear-headphones have the potential to be incredibly comfortable – some are adjustable and have very cushioned earcups but it won’t stop your ears from becoming hot. Over-ear headphones, if worn incorrectly, may give you a headache as they might squeeze your head too much. Be sure to have them well adjusted for maximum comfort.
